Directions: Day 1 Page B42—B47 Break students into 6 groups. Assign a rock type to each group. Students will fill in information using map activity. Students must be prepared to answer the following questions: 1. What is the definition of your rock? 2. How is the rock formed? 3. How is the rock used? ( except for sedimentary). 4. What are some examples of this type of rock? If time permits have teams who have the same rock compare information.

Day 2 Have teams finish comparing their maps and prepare to present information to the class and choose representatives to present to class. Have groups share and fill in information on smartboard tree map, while the remainder of the class fills in the new information. If time permits have each student write a summary of one rock type. (paragraph)
