Community Development Department Request Locate a Community Residential Home (CRH) for 1-6 persons within 1,000’ of existing licensed CRH for 1-6 persons

Community Development Department Florida Statutes & Land Development Code CRH defined: Dwelling unit licensed to clients of the Department of Children & Family Services (DCFS), which provides a living environment for unrelated residents who operate as the functional equivalent of a family, including such supervision and care by supportive staff as may be necessary to meet the physical, emotional, and social needs of the residents. Homes for 1-6 persons, deemed a single-family unit and a non-commercial, residential use for the purpose of local laws & ordinances and subject to: Permitted in residential zoning districts without local government approval Minimum 1,000’ between homes (local government authority may grant a waiver from requirement subject to requirements)

Community Development Department Basis for Denial Does not otherwise conform to existing zoning regulations applicable to other multi-family uses in the area (Not applicable) Does not meet applicable licensing criteria established and determined by the DCFS including requirements that home is located to assure the safe care and supervision of all clients in the home (DCFS will determine meeting licensing criteria if City approves site selected) Would result in such a concentration of CRHs in the area in proximity to the site selected, or would result in a combination of CRHs with other residents in the community, such that the nature and character of the area would be substantially altered (Each CRH located within different sections and separated by Pine Grove Waterway)
