Structures TC Membership Currently, the Structures TC Membership includes: 37 Members 5 International Members 4 Associate Members 58 Friends 104 Total The Structures TC uses the “Friend” category to introduce newcomers to the TC Committee membership is limited by AIAA to approximately 35 Members, so longstanding Members of the TC are returned to Friend status on an annual basis to make room for new Members New member applications are evaluated at the end of each calendar year New Members announced in April 2011 are: Pravin Aggarwal, (NASA Johnson) John Wang, (NASA Langley) The new Associate Members are: Dawn Philips, (NASA Marshall) Peter Gustafson, (Western Michigan University) New Friends of the TC are: Michael Ross, (Sandia National Lab) Tomoya Ochinero, (Structural Mechanics Corp) Massimo Ruzzene, (Georgia Tech) Marc Schultz, (NASA Langley) Christopher Roberts, (Cessna Aircraft)

Student Paper Awards Harry H. and Lois G. Hilton Student Paper Award Lockheed Martin Student Paper Award Both awards were presented to student papers in the Structures area for the first time at the 51 st SDM Conference

Miscellaneous Items Fall Meeting in Dayton was hosted by Steve Clay (AFRL) and Anthony Palazatto (AFIT) Good meeting, good attendance, and good tour of the U.S. Air Force Museum New Members and Friends selected 1/28/11 Structures TC Annual Report was sent to AIAA on 1/28/11 Steve Engelstad attended TC Chair Training in Orlando on 1/3/11 at the ASM Meeting Good training, highly recommended for incoming chairs New Ideas from this meeting –New Subcommittee on documentation of TC Processes, and also on Awards –TC Chair write Letters of Appreciation to home management for outstanding work performed in support of the TC – send me your requests

Goals for 2011 Education subcommittee swing into action Educational tools, design competitions, engineers-in-the-classroom, etc Begin new TC Processes and Awards subcommittees Higher % participation from the TC members New member orientation New member mentors Utilize TAC Funds for TC Activities Structures TC Shirts Plaques for design competitions Travel reimbursement for speakers 9
