Ashenden Designs 25 Sep 2003DASC Steering Committee4 Financial Report Income derived from membership fees, to date: –2003 memberships paid in 2003: 67 –2004 memberships paid in 2003: 48 –total 115 @ $40 each = $4600 Expenses to date: –projector and case: $2563 Surplus at end of year falls back into IEEE-CS funds IEEE-SA dues for 2004 increased to $35 –we have been collecting $10 to join members –propose to stop collecting SA dues and refund to those who have paid

Ashenden Designs 25 Sep 2003DASC Steering Committee5 P&P Subcommittee DASC P&Ps are subject to higher-level P&Ps –IEEE-CS SAB, IEEE-SA, IEEE –higher-level P&Ps have evolved Some governance issues in DASC –P&Ps not clear and visible –P&Ps inconsistent with higher-level P&Ps –P&Ps not rigorously followed IEEE-SA currently reviewing society and sponsor P&Ps –timely for DASC to review its P&Ps

Ashenden Designs 25 Sep 2003DASC Steering Committee6 P&P Subcommittee DASC should revise its P&Ps using SA model sponsor P&Ps –subcommittee is drafting new P&Ps Subcommittee should review Working Group P&P with chairs –will propose action where needed Elections needed for DASC and some W/G officers –current DASC bylaws are inconsistent with IEEE-CS SAB P&Ps –use SAB rules plus DASC bylaws that are consistent with them
