The standards are designed to be robust and relevant to the real world, reflecting the knowledge and skills that our young people need for success in college and careers. With American students fully prepared for the future, our communities will be best positioned to compete successfully in the global economy.” Common Core Mission Statement

2 Standards for Math Practice The Standards for Mathematical Practice describe varieties of expertise that mathematics educators at all levels should seek to develop in their students. These practices rest on important “processes and proficiencies” with longstanding importance in mathematics education.

3 BOGLE JUNIOR HIGH STUDENTS WILL PROGRESS TOWARDS COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS. BJHS teachers will model and teach Problem Solving methods.  model and teach the Common Core Standards for Math Practice.  teach 100% Common Core Standards.  use assessments that measure Common Core Standards and Math Practices.  facilitate a student centered classroom with rich discussions.  focus on solutions (work), not just answers.

4 BOGLE JUNIOR HIGH STUDENTS WILL PROGRESS TOWARDS COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS. BJHS students will develop and regularly use problem solving methods.  fluently use all Common Core Standards for Math Practice.  understand and apply the Common Core grade level standards.  track their understanding using assessments that measure standards and math practices.  be active participants in classroom activities and discussions.  clearly communicate solutions (work) and answers.

5 BOGLE JUNIOR HIGH STUDENTS WILL PROGRESS TOWARDS COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS. BJHS families will monitor agendas, Infinite Campus, and nightly math assignments.  understand the expectations for grade level Common Core Standards.  understand the necessity for Common Core Standards for Math Practices.  encourage students to be an active participant in all classroom activities and discussions.  monitor assessment scores for student understanding and encourage tutoring, as needed.  understand students will be graded on solutions (work), not only answers.

7 Bring Your Own Technology – new policy of CUSD The use of personal electronic devices is left to the discretion of the classroom teacher. The teacher will make the final determination of when use of personal electronic device is appropriate (NO GAME BASED SYSTEMS) Students need to keep track of their personal electronic device; The school and district is NOT liable for your losses due to theft, damage, or other financial harm Remember that BYOT is a privilege, not a right. This privilege can be taken away if abused.
