What are Participles? Workbook Definition: "A form of a verb that is often used as an adjective." Dictionary.com Definition: "An adjective or complement to certain auxiliaries that is regularly derived from the verb in many languages and refers to participation in the action or state of the verb; (Or in other words) a verbal form used as an adjective."

What are some examples of participles? Participle Phrases In a participle phrase you must have: A participle An object And a prepositional phrase. My mother waved a torch over her head making a great ring of white light.
