Current Safety Regulations – Passive Safety

Subject Applicable IS / AIS Equivalent ECE 1 Steering Control Systems IS : 1996 Scope M1 & N1 GVW < 1500 kg Requirements Same as ECE ECE R 12 All M1, & N1 GVW < 1500 kg 2 Safety Belt Assembly IS : 2003 Safety belt to be installed on Front outboard - 3 point All other - 2 point with or with out Retractor ECE R 16 Safety belt to be installed on All seat - 3 point with ELR with multiple sensitivity. 3 Safety Belt Anchorage IS : 2002 M1 & N1 category of vehicle seat belt anchorage shall withstand 1350 daN for 3 point & 2250 daN for 2 point. Same as ECE ECE R 14

IS is based on FMVSS 5 Seat Anchorage & their Head Restraints for M1 IS : 2005 or AIS 016 Applicable to M1 only Test Pulse - 20 g for 30 ms Head restraint shall be provided for front outboard seats. Height of HR shall be 700 mm to 750 mm ECE R 17 & ECE R 25 All seats shall be fwd facing. Applicable to both M1 & N1 Head restraint shall be provided for front outboard seats. Height of HR shall be 750 mm to 800 mm 6 Seat Anchorage & their Head Restraints other than M1 AIS 023 : 2005 Test Pulse - 8 g for 50 ms ECE R 80.01 Applicable to other than M1 & N1 7 Child Restraint System AIS 72 : 2009 Phase I : Provision for fitment of CRS on at least one designated seating position. ECE R 44.04 ECE R 16.
