Outline According to the IEEE 802.16m DRAFT Amendment, UL resource for BR header can be allocated through the BR ACK A-MAP IE. However, there is some missing and ambiguous explanation. Therefore, we propose some details and optimized BR ACK A-MAP IE for UL resource allocation.
3
Clarification of the operation for UL resource allocation (1/4) Allocation Relevance –When UL resource is allocated via BR ACK A-MAP IE, AMS shall know allocation relevance of the UL resource. –According to DL/UL ratio (8:0, 6:2, 5:3, 4:4 or 3:5), an A-MAP region can be relevant to one UL sub-frame or two UL sub-frames. If it is 8:0, 6:2, 5:3 or 4:4, an A-MAP region can be relevant to one UL sub-frame. If it is 3:5, an A-MAP region can be relevant to one UL sub-frame or two UL sub-frames.
4
Clarification of the operation for UL resource allocation (2/4) Allocation Relevance –How to know where the allocated UL resource is. Method 1 : BR ACK A-MAP IE should include an allocation relevance field. Method 2 : The allocated UL resource should be in the first UL sub-frame relevant to the A-MAP region regardless of DL/UL ratio.
5
Clarification of the operation for UL resource allocation (3/4) Allocation Order / Size –D1 text doesn’t clearly describe order and size allocated to the code index whose grant indicator is ‘1’. –Therefore, we propose that the UL resource should be allocated to the code index whose grant indicator is ‘1’ in ascending order based on the code index. –Also, allocation size field should be included. LRU 0 1 2 3 4 …… Resource for code index 2 Resource start offset ‘1’ Resource for code index 7 Allocation size ‘2’
6
Clarification of the operation for UL resource allocation (4/4) HARQ Feedback Allocation –To notify AMS of decoding status of the BW-REQ message, HARQ needs to be enabled. For supporting HARQ, HFA (HARQ Feedback Allocation) and ACID (HARQ channel identifier) are required. ACID can be omitted. The maximum number of the retransmission should be defined. –Therefore, we propose that each HFA should be allocated by using HFA start offset as using resource start offset for UL resource allocation.
7
Optimized BR ACK A-MAP Using 2bit-MSB of the resource start offset –The maximum number of LRUs is 96 for 20 MHz. –Because 95 are 0b1011111, there is no possibility that 2bit-MSB of the resource start offset in BR ACK A-MAP IE becomes 0b11. –If we use this as an indicator, we can increase the capacity of BR ACK-A-MAP IE. If 2bit-MSB !=0b11, allocation information will be transmitted in the BR ACK-A-MAP IE. If 2bit-MSB == 0b11, no allocation information will be included in this BR ACK-A-MAP IE.
