3 HABITATS AND ANIMALS O Dublin zoo opened in 1831 O Dublin zoo is one of the World’s Oldest zoos

4 BIRDS O Birds are warm-blooded vertebrates that are well adapted for flight, though not all birds can fly. All birds are covered with feathers, contain a strong skeleton, and have efficient digestive and respiratory systems. There are about 10,000 species ranging from very small to very large.

5 GIRAFFES Giraffes have very Long necks DID YOU KNOW…. We have 7 bones in our neck And so does the GIRAFFE Giraffes are one of the World’s tallest animals

6 ZEBRAS O Zebras are one of a handful of single-toed hoofed animal species, a category that also includes donkeys, horses and asses. No animal like the zebra has a more distinctive coat

7 LIONS O Living in the grasslands, scrub, and open woodlands of sub-Saharan Africa, the lion is the second largest cat in the world. It is dwarfed slightly by the tiger, which is closely related and has a very similar body type.

8 RED PANDA O Red pandas, which resemble raccoons, are about 42 inches long, including a long, bushy tail. They weigh between 7 and 14 pounds

9 ELEPHANTS O Elephants are large mammals of the family Elephantidae Elephantidae O Elephants don’t start out small

10 MONKEYS *Monkeys live in trees but some monkeys do not Most monkeys have tails Groups of monkeys are known as tribe

11 SEALS O The mammals spend most of their time in the water and can be found all over the world O Seals molt, or shed their skin, about once a year

12 PEINGUINS O As soon as the egg is laid (penguins lay one or two eggs at a time), the female dashes out for dinner, leaving the male to watch the nest O When the penguin is small it is not the same colour as its parents
