2-2 TEMPERATURE
2
Fahrenheit and Celsius Gabriel Fahrenheit (1686-1736) was one of the first to develop a thermometer. His standards were quite arbitrary. Scientists eventually went with Anders Celsius (1701-1744) system because it fit the metric system better.
3
William Thomson, Lord Kelvin (1824-1907) developed a system that is the SI standard today based on Absolute Zero. This is the point where ALL molecular motion STOPS completely. THIS IS A THEORETICAL MEASURE

Conversion. o C =5/9 x ( o F - 32) Conversion. o F = 9/5 o C + 32 SI unit Kelvin (K) contains absolute zero. (-273 o C) Conversion. o C = K – 273 Conversion. K = o C + 273 Temperature Conversions
