2.  A DJ uses many different types of equipment. Some of these are mixers, headphones, speakers and a turn tables or a laptop and digital controller and a microphone.

3.  A mixer makes smooth transitions between songs that are being played from a sound source which is plugged into it. There are many different brands that could be used but I would prefer to use the Pioneer DJM-350.

5.  Headphones are like small speakers joined by a band so that the DJ can put it on their head close to their ears. They must be ale to hear what is going happening on the outside as well as what song will be played next. These are usually bought depending on the frequency ranges ( how high or low it can go).  Beats are the most popular headphones but, it is possible that other brands are better that this one. Pioneer headphones are another top of the brand headphones

7.  Speakers are device that make music loud or increase the volume of music being played so that it is loud enough.QSE, JBL and Pioneer speakers are very popular speaker brands. Speakers are bough by how high or low the frequency ranges are. Always get speakers which are of good quality and long lasting.

8.  The more people in a space the harder the speakers are pushed so it is better to overkill or have speakers with a lot of watts than ones with two little. This can result in blown or damaged speakers. Top end speakers in clubs are normally over 800 watts. The Root Top Bar has two top end boxes. In the Cotton Club there is one Bass box with is 1500 watts. However, speakers are placed strategically in the room to ensure the best sound. In a square room the speakers would be placed in the corners.

9.  Advantages of PCs  They are cheaper than Macs for equivalent specs.  There is much more choice from many manufacturers.  People may be more familiar with using PCs.  Advantages of Macs  They are guaranteed to be well built and reliable, coming from just the one manufacturer.  OSX is a more stable, operating system than Windows. A Mac is less likely to crash.

10.  A microphone is an instrument for converting sound waves into electrical energy variations, which can then be amplified, transmitted, or recorded.  The standard mic used for live performance is the Shure SM58. It’s affordable at prices of $90-$100. It also has a good sound and is very durable. The only “accessory” you’ll need is an XLR cable, which can be bought at prices of $10-$30 depending on the length you need, 10-15 feet is about enough.

11.  Turn tables are used to manipulate songs and create music. Vinyl turntables were in style for a long time and still is, but now digital turntables are coming to the forefront. Digital turn tables are a combination of modern technology and vinyl turntables. It has many features from vinyl turntables but it uses computer sound files instead of a record. This allows techniques like scratching and replaying a part of a song to be easier and more elaborate without damaging the equipment. Technique was the original maker of turntables but, now they don’t make them anymore.
