E D U C A T I O N S E R V I C E SCHOLAR In Fife SCHOLAR was used in a few of our Secondary schools As part of the raising attainment agenda – SCHOLAR was centrally funded Target within a two / three year period we would become one of the top SCHOLAR users Improving learning and teaching and pupils engagement - SCHOLAR active learning Schools were made aware that pupils using SCHOLAR would potentially raise their performance at level 5 and 6. Students using SCHOLAR did better at University having become used to on-line learning Links to the Glow learn

E D U C A T I O N S E R V I C E SCHOLAR In Fife – Planning a way Forward Met with Jim McIntyre area coordinator – strategic plan School coordinators 2 / 3 per school training meeting each year. Coordinators on glow sharing practice School pathfinders training attempted to have at least 3 per school School librarians given SCHOLAR coordinator status and organised study groups, clubs and lunch, early morning and after school availability Target specific PTs / Curriculum leaders events organised through Jim McIntyre

E D U C A T I O N S E R V I C E SCHOLAR In Fife – Planning a way Forward Coordinated plan to ensure all pupil inductions and Staff CPD were targeted and progressed smoothly SCHOLAR coordinators linked with myself and Jim McIntyre Two secondary schools one day and Staff CDP Mixture of presentation event and small groups practical sessions Discussion on personal learning planning process Regular use throughout the year

E D U C A T I O N S E R V I C E SCHOLAR In Fife – Planning a way forward Staff CDP – joined the presentations Staff workshops organised by SCHOLAR coordinators and Jim McIntyre Staff discuss how they can use aspects of SCHOLAR within their own teaching Staff using materials - video clips, 3D images particularly in science SCHOLAR supporting our Confucius hub activities Coordinators, Librarians, pathfinders supporting and challenging staff / young people

E D U C A T I O N S E R V I C E SCHOLAR In Fife – Planning a way Forward Support from the authority Plan with area coordinator Three news letters as part of our harnessing technology to improve learning and teaching Materials all passed to Secondary heads and SCHOLAR Coordinators Discussion and feedback on school and department use of SCHOLAR Focus on our aim to be in the top quartile of SCHOLAR users in Scotland

E D U C A T I O N S E R V I C E SCHOLAR In Fife – Planning a way Forward Raising attainment – value added measures and links with SCHOLAR use Young people regular discussion on planning for success – SCHOLAR and cusp pupils Areas of deprivation librarians supporting SCHOLAR. Computer suites available. Focused study period involving SCHOLAR Promotion across the schools at SLT, Extended management teams, department level and class teachers QI process as part of our learning communities

E D U C A T I O N S E R V I C E SCHOLAR In Fife – Planning a Way Forward Raised attainment within Fife and we are the most improved local Authority HMIE reports are well above our comparator schools Strong correlation between Fife Indicators and HMIE HMIE validated our self evaluation of managing CFE. CFE within Fife is focused on raising attainment / achievement, improving learning and teaching and pupil engagement SCHOLAR an entitlement within Fife
