1 Classroom Expectations 7 th Grade Language Arts Mrs. Chortanoff

2 Student Behaviors Be prompt o Be ready to learn when class begins. Be prepared o Have materials with you and know due dates. o Pen/pencil, class binder, planner Be a polite and positive participant o Speak in a normal tone of voice and listen attentively. o No name calling or yelling Be productive o Turn in work on time and always do your best. Be a problem solver o Correct problems quickly and peacefully before they escalate.

3 Show Respect Value yourself. Be honest. Represent yourself in the best manner possible with your words and actions. Treat all members of the school community and all visitors with politeness and respect. Honor the ideas and opinions of others. Offer to help. Be responsible with property and belongings.

4 Responsibility for Coursework Bring binder, books, planner, and appropriate writing tools to every class. Know due dates and submit all coursework on time. Don’t wait until the last minute. Get help early. All assignments are posted on the assignment board in class and on the Navy Team Homework Page. Check the class webpage for unit resources and reading and writing help.

5 Policies Food and beverages are not allowed in the classroom. No electronic devices in classroom. NO Exceptions. Please be in your seat when the bell rings, as class begins at that time. Always raise your hand and wait to be called on before talking. Do not leave your seat without permission. No late work will be accepted. For absences, school policy applies for submitting missed work. When you return from an absence:  Check classroom folder for work you missed.  See teacher for explanation of work.

6 Grading Grades are based on the accumulation of points. Points are based on:  Class participation (effort)  Completion of assignments (daily work)  Major projects and exams  Notebooks Grades are posted online. Our Grading Scale 90-100% = A 80-89% = B 70-79% = C 60-69% = D Below 60% = F Grades are calculated on cumulative percentage.

7 My Pledge to Students I will trust you until you give me reason to do otherwise. I will respect you and work with you to solve problems. I will offer feedback on your work. I will work with you to meet learning goals. I will offer extra help should you require it.
