Application Process Overview 1.Finalize a college list (think: match) 2.Track deadlines and requirements (recommendations, essays) 3.Request recommendations, if needed 4.Complete applications 5.Request transcripts 6.Check the status of applications

College Match Different colleges have different levels of selectivity: Very Selective Selective Somewhat Selective Non-Selective Match is based on GPA and ACT College list should reflect the selectivity level the student is qualified for

Match school = matches selectivity level The average GPA and ACT of admitted freshmen is within a couple points of student’s GPA and ACT Safety school = Student’s GPA/ACT is above that of admitted freshmen Reach school = Student’s GPA/ACT is below that of admitted freshmen We encourage a minimum of 5 schools: 3 Match, 1 Safety, 1 Reach

Senior Passport A tool for monitoring the steps necessary to successfully apply to and pay for college. Those steps include: Completing college applications Submitting the FAFSA Tracking admissions decisions and financial aid awards Tied to participation in activities and rewards Halloween Dance: Individual counselor meeting by October 9 th Homecoming: 3 match applications by December 4 th Prom: 3 match applications 3 admissions results FAFSA completion Senior exit questionnaire

College Resources & Events College Admissions Seminar with Illinois Tech Tuesday, September 29 th, 6:30 – 7:30 General information (not specific to Illinois Tech) on college search and admissions tips College Representatives at Von Naviance contains schedule of all college rep visits Student will get alert if a rep is visiting from a college on their Naviance list College Trip Week Juniors and seniors visit a match college or university Please sign up to chaperone!
