2 Why is safety important?  Equipment, Tools, materials, and activities determine how dangerous a situation is.  You need to be safe!

3 The right tool - hand tools  Claw Hammer- most commonly used hammer. The claw provides leverage to pull nails

4 Coping Saw  Used to cut curves, scroll work, and molding as finishing trim

5 Hacksaw  Used for cutting metal

6 Ball-peen hammer  Flat side to hammer chisels / round side for shaping metal

7 Crosscut saw  Cuts across grains of wood.

8 Utility Knife  For safety knife can blade can go into handle.

9 Tack hammer  Light weight hammer that holds and sets tacks.

10 Screwdivers  Phillips head – has a star on the top

11 Screwdriver  Regular – flat end at the top

12 Rubber mallet  Used for assembling project

13 Backsaw  Used to make fine cuts

14 Adjustable Wrench  Used on different bolts and nuts. Used when a boxed wrench is not available.

15 Power tools – Use Caution!!! Power tools – Use Caution!!!  These tools are powered by electricity- also called electric tools.

16 Band Saw  Cuts curves and makes wood a thinner size.

17 Electric drill  Comes in three chuck sizes: ½”, 3/8”, ¼” (“- means inch)  Can move in reverese and have variable speed

18 Power brad nailer  Drives and sinks brad nails without making marks on the wood.

19 Table Saw  Most common saw. The blade determins how big the saw is.

20 Circular Saw  Portable saw that cuts wood and other material.

21 JigSaw  Makes straight and Curved cuts.
