3 Tibet Becomes Independent  Tibet was granted independence by the Qing emperor after the establishment of the Republic of China in 1912 http://www.conservapedia.com/Tibet

4 The Simla Accord  A convention between Great Britain, China, and Tibet was held in 1914.  The Simla Treaty was brought up before the three countries. 6 The 17-Point Agreement  In 1951 the 17-Point agreement was created by the Republic of China.  The agreement stated, "This affirmed Chinese sovereignity over Tibet and stated that China would not "alter the existing political system in Tibet" and that "in matters relating to various reforms in Tibet there would be no compulsion on the part of the central authorities". 7 China Reacts to Resistance  In 1959, a resistance movement started to grow in Lhasa and in Tibet.  The Republic of China reacted aggressively to the movement.  Out of fear that the Dalai Lama would be kidnapped, about 300,000 Tibetans gathered around the capitol to protect their Dalai Lama. 10 Genocide Begins  Genocide began in the year 1960. 18 On-Going Effects  Over a million Tibetans have died over the years since the genocide began, and this number continues to grow as more work, labor, and concentration camps are established for Tibetan and political enemies.  Over 70% of the inmates total in the camps and in prisons die. http://tibettruth.com/what-is-tibets-cause-about/

19 On-Going Effects in Nature  Economic effects since the rule of the Republic of China took a turn for the worst. The air quality in the region has suffered greatly due to pollution and other means.  Nature is taking a great blow as well. Deforestation and extermination of animals have left this once beautiful and lively country to rot.  Large animals were vastly found and were in good populations and most are now extinct or severely endangered. http://unpo.org/article/16509
