What makes a complete sentence? English I CP

What do you need to make a complete sentence? A subject and a predicate. End of story. Without these, you DO NOT have a complete sentence!

Subject The subject of a sentence is the person, place, thing, or idea (NOUN) that is doing or being something The SUBJECT is what or who the sentence is about

Predicate The predicate is the part of a sentence that “modifies” the subject in some way In other words, the predicate is the part of a sentence that contains a VERB explaining what a SUBJECT does A predicate contains a VERB and a DIRECT OBJECT

Verb The action being done by the SUBJECT

Direct Object A NOUN or PRONOUN that receives the action of the verb

Are these complete sentences? When he went to the store and got a candy bar. A soft sweater. When she got sick. When he fought the boys in the street. Warm, bright. When the girl broke her leg.
