1
Geometry In The Real World
By: Katelyn Rheuark
2
How is point is related to the real world?
A Point is a dot on a specific location named by a capital letter. A good example of a point in the real world would be a eyeball because the pupil would be the point on the eye.
3
How does a line relate to the real world ?
A line is straight and has no definite measure A road would be an example of a line because it is straight and they do end but it could go on and on for a while
4
How can a plane relate to the real world?
A Plane is a flat surface A table would be a real world example because it is a flat surface
5
How can a segment relate to the real world?
A segment an actual measure, it is straight, and it is apart of a line A crosswalk would be a good example because it goes from point A to point B
6
How does a ray relate to the real world?
A ray only has one stopping point from the beginning and has no definite measure A stop sign then a road would be a ray because at the stop sign you are stopped then you keep going on the road
7
How does a obtuse angle relate to the real world?
An acute angle is angle between 0 & 90 degrees A piece of pie is littler than 90 degrees there for it is an acute angle
8
How does a right angle relate to the real world ?
Right angles are 90 degrees A picture frame would be a right angle
9
How do collinear points relate to the real world?
Collinear points are points that line on the same line A stoplight would be a real world example because the three lights are on the same line
10
How do obtuse angles relate to the real world?
An obtuse angles are angles between 90 & 120 degrees The Chinese hand held fans represent a obtuse angle because they open wider than 90 degrees
11
How can perpendicular lines relate to the real world?
Perpendicular lines intersect to form four 90 degree angles An intersection would be an example of these lines because they intersect in the middle and make 4 equal sections
12
How does complementary angles relate to the real world
Complementary angles add up to 90 degrees Wings on an airplane would be an example of these angles
13
How do supplementary angles relate to the real world?
These angles add up to 180 degrees A example of these angles would be this ballerina because her legs represent the straight line, her arm to arm would be angle then her arm to her foot would be the 2nd angle. Which would equal to 180 degrees
14
How do Vertical Angles relate to the real world?
Vertical Angles theorem says that they are congruent. Each of the pairs of opposite angles made by two intersecting lines.
15
How do Acute Angles relate to the real world?
Definition of Acute Angles: is an angle smaller than a right angle (less than 90°).
16
How do Obtuse angles relate to the real world?
Definition : An angle that measures more than 90 degrees but less than 180 degrees.
17
How do Equilateral Triangles Relate to the real world?
Definition: A triangle with all three sides of equal length. All the angles are 60°
18
How do Isosceles Triangles relate to the real world?
Definition: a triangle that has two sides of equal length. Sometimes it is specified as having two and only two sides of equal length, and sometimes as having at least two sides of equal length, the latter version thus including the equilateral triangle as a special case.
19
How do Scalene Triangles relate to the real world?
Definition: a triangle that has 3 unequal sides
20
How do right triangles relate to the real world?
is a triangle in which one angle is a right angle (that is, a 90-degree angle).
21
How does a circle relate to the real world?
Radius- is half of the circle Diameter-the length of a circle Secant-A line that intersects a curve or circle at two points Tangent- is perpendicular to the radius drawn to the point of tangency, Tangent segments to a circle from the same external point are congruent. Chord-is the line segment joining two points on a curve
