4 How to read Treble Clef The treble clef spaces spell FACE The lines are: Even Garfield Buys Dog Food or Elephants Got Big Dirty Feet or Elvis Goes Belly Dancing Fridays… Know any others??

5 For reals Label the staff with the treble lines and spaces below: Be sure to draw the clef first, at the beginning of the line.

6 Write your own Using the notes from “hot cross buns” C, D and E, write your own melody. Honors: Be sure your rhythms fit correctly into the measures. Your melody should be four bars long.

9 Note reading Practice Board Races: Treble Clef Divide into two teams. The first two musicians of the line will ID notes as fast as possible.

10 Take “Notes” Ledger lines: used in Western musical notation to notate pitches above or below the lines and spaces of the regular musical staff. Half-step: The smallest interval on the piano—keys played next to each other Whole-step: An interval made up of two half-steps. On the piano it is any two keys with one in between. Flat: Lowers a pitch a 1/2 step Sharp: Raises a pitch 1/2 step Natural: Cancels a sharp or flat
