Program of Studies Required Administrative Regulation is the Kentucky Program of Studies Implemented by 704 KAR 3:304 Received Final Approval August 2006 Included Requirements for the minimum content standards for all students before graduating from Kentucky public high schools. Specifies the content standards for the required credits for high school graduation and the primary, intermediate and middle level content standards leading up to these requirements.

Program of Studies Scope and Purpose is to ensure that Kentucky’s students are prepared for the 21st Century Ensures that all students throughout Kentucky are provided with common content and opportunities Provides local school districts with a basis for establishing and/or revising standards-based curricula and instruction

Local Responsibilities Instructional programs must: Emphasize the development of students’ abilities to acquire, apply and integrate knowledge, skills, and understandings in real-life contexts and to problem-solve, make decisions, and think critically and creatively Assist students in connecting learning to the world beyond the classroom by exploring and investigating real issues and problems of communities, states, the nation, and the world

Local Responsibilities Instructional programs must: Recognize the diversity of students and how children learn, construct knowledge and acquire skills and concepts of the disciplines. Schools and school districts are also responsible for coordinating curricula across grade levels and among schools within districts.
