3. What Is the Big6? It can help you find information and solve problems in 6 steps. Define your task. What sources can I use? Where can I find these materials? What can I use from these sources? How can I put this information together? How will I know if I did it well?

4. Step 1-First decide what you need to do.

5. Step 2-decide which sources (books, Internet, reference materials) you need in order to gather your information.

6. Step 3-Where do I look to find these sources-library books,reference books, the Internet?

7. Step 4 What Can I Use from These Sources? Take notes to answer the problem you are searching. You may have notes from several different sources- books, encyclopedias, Internet, etc.

8. Step 5-Using Information Now it’s time to use the information for the report. Remind the students not to copy directly from the sources used. Be creative.

9. Step 6-Evaluation Look over the report. Did you accomplish what you set out to do? Check your spelling and grammar.
