A Description of the Church From the Letter to the Ephesians: 1.22: Christ is the head. 1.23: The church is the body. 1.23: The church is His fullness. 3.10-11: The church is by design. 3.21: God is to be glorified in the church. 5.23: Christ has all authority and is the Savior. 5.25: Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it. 5.26-27: Jesus’ design is to present it as “a glorious church.” 5.29-30: Jesus nourishes and cherishes the church.

What Is the Church? 1.From the Greek word ekklesia [ek- out of; kaleo- to call] which is synonymous with the Heb. word kahal = an assembly (i.e., Acts 7.38; 19.39-41) 2.The church is an assembly of Christians gathered to worship God, by observing that which is authorized, and who are hoping for salvation through Jesus. - 1 Corinthians 1.2; 14.19, 35; 1 Thessalonians 1.1; Ephesians 1.22-23; Hebrews 12.22-23
