2. Dating Review
B.C.E- Before the Common Era (AKA: B.C). Dates are in descending order.
C.E- the Common Era, this is what we live in (AKA: A.D.- Anno Domini, “Year of Our Lord”). Date are ascending order
Prehistoric- Time period before written records.

3. Decade - 10 years (i.e.- the 80s)
Century – 100 years ( )
Centuries are dated 1 ahead (i.e = 1st century, =2nd). We live in the 21st century.
Millennium – 1,000 years

4. Hunters and Gatherers Survival based on hunting and gathering
Ate what they found/ followed herds
Could not settle (nomads)
Low populations

5. What did they kill things with? (Tools)
People used primitive tools made of stone, wood, bone, etc.

6. Neolithic Revolution (Agricultural Revolution)
Between and 5000 years ago, people began farming
Different areas start at different times.
Slash-and-burn: clearing land for agricultural use by cutting down trees and burning the field.

7. Bacon?? People began to domesticate (tame) animals.
They were used as a food source (pigs, ect) and for companionship (dogs).

8. What happens when you stop being a nomad?
Farming = food supply = population
People settle near river valleys

Nile River Valley
China
Indus River Valley
