Starch Starch as well as sugars are produced in plants. Starch is found in many foodstuffs such as: Bread, potatoes, rice, pasta and maize Starch and sugars belong to the same family of chemicals: carbohydrates

Testing with Iodine Solution Iodine solution can be used to test for starch. The positive test is when the iodine changes from orange to blue/black in the presence of starch.

Carry out the following experiment: Put a little of each solid (starch, glucose, salt, sucrose) into separate dimples on the tile. Add 2 drops of iodine solution to each solid Record your results in a table.
