2
A flip chart is a simple tool best used in situations where notes and ideas need to be written.
3
Most commonly, flip charts are used during brainstorming sessions.
4
Organization of Flip Chart
First page- Title Page Second page- Subject Following pages explain the subject and offer proof of the explanation. Final page summarizes and asks for action. Caution: Make sure pages aren’t overloaded with info.
5
Before Meeting Place flip chart where it can be seen.
Arrange seats so that the person farthest away can see the chart. Make sure all pages are there and in correct order. Arrange lights so they will illuminate chart and not cause any unwanted glare.
6
During Meeting Presentation
Know what is on the next chart page before you turn the page. Before turning the page, lead in with a smooth verbal transition. Don’t look at the charts while speaking, maintain eye contact with your audience. Write or draw to the side of the pad rather than with your back to the audience.

Advantages of Flipcharts
Flip charts are most effectively used in small groups. Flip charts can be set up anywhere. Flip charts can help a group to develop ideas and lists during meetings. Flip charts are low-tech and low risk.

Disadvantages of Flip Charts
Flip charts are not reusable. Flip charts are usually word-oriented unless the presenter can draw. Flip charts should not be used in groups larger than 50 people. It may be difficult to use color effectively.

Make sure your flip-chart pad fits the flip chart stand. Use a gridded pad, instead of a plain one, to make it easier to draw straight lines and align text. Design your visuals on note paper first before drawing them on the actual flip chart pad.
