In this power point you will learn about what a peacock is, their color, their habitat, their names, their markings, how they stay safe, and they are also related to a different type of bird. 4 W HAT IS A PEACOCK ?  A peacock is a type of bird  Some people think it’s the worlds most beautiful bird  They live all over the world A pretty picture of a peacock. Hi I’m a peacock!!

5 P EACOCKS C OLORS  They have colors of blue, green, white, brown, and purple.  Males have brighter colors to attract mates.  Females have duller colors to hide and keep their nests and eggs safe. A feather of a peacock

6 W HERE DO PEACOCKS LIVE ?  Blue and green peacocks live in forests of India and Asia.  Some people also raise peacocks on farms in India.  Some Congo peacocks live in rain forests in Africa. A peacock farm

7 P EACOCKS HAVE UNIQUE NAMES  Males are called peafowls  Females are called peahens  Babies are called peachicks A picture of a peahen A picture of a peachick A picture of peafowl

8 P EACOCKS HAVE VERY INTERESTING BODY MARKINGS  The blue and green circles on their tails look like eyes  The males only have the eyes  The tail is called a train like a wedding dress

9 P EACOCKS STAY SAFE IN INTERESTING WAYS  Wild peacocks live in groups together  They sleep in tall trees to stay safe and away from predators  They make noises if danger is near A picture of a screaming peacock A tree peacocks sleep in HELP!!!!!!!!

10 P EACOCKS ARE RELATED TO PHEASANTS  Peacocks are a type of pheasant  They are like a pheasant because they have a big train like a pheasant  They also eat off the ground A picture of a pheasant A picture of a peacock Hey family reunion! Are you my aunt?
