When a baseball bat is thrown, it wobbles and does not flow smoothly through the air. It wobbles about a special point It is the sum of two motions: A spin around this point And a movement through the air as if all the weight were concentrated at this point. AKA the center of gravity.

When an irregular shaped object is thrown: it usually rotates around the center of gravity as well as following a straight line motion with the center of gravity. No matter where in the air the object is tosses, the center of gravity will always follow a smooth parabola. Center of Gravity
