Decision-Making Process 1) State the situation 2) List the options 3) Weigh the outcomes (HELP Method = H>Helpful, E>Ethical, L>Legal, P>Parental Approval) 4) Your Values 5) Make decision and act 6) Evaluate Decision

GOALS What are goals? > something you aim for that takes PLANNING AND WORK! Types of goals = –Short Term > a goal that you can reach in a short period of time. Examples = studying for a quiz, exercising for 20 mins/3x’s a week, etc.) –Long Term > a goal that you plan to reach over an extended period of time, i.e. = college, marriage, etc.

Action Plan Action plans are multi-step strategies that identify goals and help to achieve those goals. Steps= 1) Write down specific/realistic goals 2) List steps to achieve 3) ID support group 4) Time Frame (Be flexible) 5) Evaluate your progress 6) Reward yourself for achievement

Character What is good character? Do you think character stays the same through out your life-time? Ways to demonstrate good character? –T–Trustworthiness –R–Responsibility –R–Respect –F–Fairness –C–Citizenship

Developing Good Character Stand up for your beliefs Learn from role models Involvement with school/community/friends with core ethical values –Terms Role Model? Values?
