4 2014 NSS/MIC Awards Glenn F. Knoll Radiation Instrumentation Outstanding Achievement Award Robert Klanner For the development of high-precision silicon detectors and calorimeters, their successful use in particle physics experiments, and the education of junior scientists in physics and applications of detectors. Radiation Instrumentation Early Career Award Jelena Ninkovic For contributions to developments of Avalanche Photodiodes in Geiger mode, especially SiPMs with bulk-integrated quench resistors for single photon and particle detection, and of DEPFET active pixel vertex detectors. Although awarded last year, Dr. Veljko Radeka was presented the 2013 IEEE Marie Sklodowska-Curie Award, as he was not able to attend the conference last year. The award read, “For the development of new radiation detectors, electronics, and systems that operate at the fundamental limits of performance, enabling discoveries in many areas of science.”

5 NSS/MIC Conference Statistics

6 NSS/MIC Conference Software “Bo Yu” Paper submission software Developed and maintained by Bo Yu Used by the majority of NPSS conferences Conference Registration Software Commercially developed Used by the majority of NPSS conferences Recently transferred to Tony Lavietes Updates needed 13 years old (both created for the 2001 NSS/MIC) Transition to new conference format (mobile app) Breadth of applications require AdCom action It’s Time for an Integrated Approach
