Jehoahaz Is Made King After Josiah died, the people made Jehoahaz, his son, king He did evil and only reigned 3 months Necho removed him and imprisoned him in Hamoth and put his brother, Eliakim on the throne Necho changed Eliakim to Jehoiakim and took Jehoahaz to Egypt where he died (Jer. 22:10- 12)

Jehoiakim Jehoiakim reigned 11 years and was very wicked Recall that in his day, they wanted to kill Jeremiah and did kill Uriah Jehoiakim paid tribute to Nebuchadnezzar He rebelled, and in the 3 rd year, Nebuchadnezzar invaded and took captives and treasures from the temple

Nebuchadnezzar Invades Daniel and his friends are taken captive (Dan. 1:1-7) The time is about 605 or 606 BC The stories of Daniel will be covered next quarter while studying the captivity Recall the prophecy of 2 Kings 20:17-18

Jeremiah’s Prophecy of the Captivity During this same year, Jeremiah prophesied that the captivity was going to happen (Jeremiah 25:1-14) Jeremiah said that the captivity would last 70 years Jeremiah also foretold that Babylon would be punished Jeremiah specifically mentioned the Medes (Jer. 51:11)

The Rechabites God uses the example of the Rechabites to show what He wanted from His people (Jer. 35:1-19) They were commanded once by their father not to drink wine, and never did Judah was commanded by God over and over and still did not listen This story dates back 250 years (2 Kin. 10:15- 23)

Jehoiakim Burns the Scroll God told Jeremiah to write the words he had spoken in a scroll (Jer. 36:1-32) This was probably Jeremiah 1-20 Baruch went to the temple and read the scroll Micaiah heard the reading, told the princes, and told Baruch and Jeremiah to hide and hide the scroll Jehudi found the scroll and read it to the king. The king cut and burned each portion. Another scroll was written
