2. HOMELESSNESS INTRODUCTION Homelessness in the United States began gaining national attention in the 1980's. Today, it is estimated that more than 2 million people experience homelessness on a yearly basis. I will introduce a campaign to address and examine this issue, its effect on society, and what we can do as communities to lower our homelessness rates. We will discuss methods of intervention and prevention and bring awareness to gain motivation from the public to pay attention to our homeless population.
