2 Where the Odawa lived The Odawa's lived on the shores of lake Michigan in the lower peninsula. They also lived in the great lakes region. the odawa lived where the line is

3 Shelter The Odawa lived in wigwams. Wigwams were made of birch bark or wetus. Once the birch bark was in place ropes or strips of wood is wrapped around the Wigwam to hold the birch bark in place. Then the wooden frames and woven mats and sheets of birch bark. The frame can be shaped like a dome , cone and rectangular. They also were 8-10 feet tall. Wigwams are also small. These are pictures of wigwams

4 Clothing Boys/Men Boys and men who were in the tribe Odawa wore cloaks and leather moccasins and headbands with feathers sticking up in the back. They also painted their faces and arms. Even sometimes they went around naked. Girls /women girls and women in the tribe Odawa wore long dresses with attachable sleeves or robes with leather moccasins and long braids These are leather moccasins

5 Food What did they eat The Odawa ate Squash, corn, beans, deer, berries, wild rice, nuts, moose, fox, bear, wolf, cornbread, and soups. How did they get it The Odawa got there food with bows, arrows and clubs. They fished in a group on a canoe. They used fish hooks fishing rods sinew lines. They cropped their fruit and vegetables such as squash ,corn ,beans and berries.

6 Roles in the Tribe Children Adults (men and women)
The Odawa children fished and hunt with their fathers. In the mean time the children played games like Lacrosse and Archery. Adults (men and women) Men in the Odawa were usually hunters, warriors and chef. Both of the men and women told story’s made artwork and songs. Just the women were farmers took care of the children and built the houses.

7 Special Skill The Odawa’s special skill was making hand made canoes and trading things like furs, skins, cornmeal, sunflower oil, tobacco, roots and mats. this is a picture of a native American canoe

8 Fun facts Lakes, rivers, and streams were used for bathing this could be a lake that the Odawa's bathed in The three fires had to hunt for their food. They also used traps for small animals If they didn't work for their food, they would starve to death The Iroquois were enemies of the Three Fires When the Europeans came, they brought many tools that the Three Fires began to use They kept dogs as pets. The dogs were used for hunting and as guard dogs. However, they would eat dog if they needed to They didn't really keep pets because the ate most small animals Sometimes they would take members from other tribes during battles. The children that were taken would be adopted and become part of the tribe They had many small battles over land with other tribes The cooked with birchbark pots and pans The Three fires were called the Anishinabeg In the tribe, different people had different jobs like hunting and fishing, but everyone helped so that everyone could eat The used different plants as medicines. When the environment changed, some of the plants they used for medicines were no longer available
