Arizona Illegal Immigration Law Senate Bill 1070 Governor Jan Brewer (R) Signed into law in April 2010 Law is designed to identify, prosecute and deport illegal immigrants. The law would make failure to carry immigration documents a crime. And give police the power to detain anyone who was suspected to be in the country illegally.

Hotly Debated & Opposed The world and country has met this bill with mixed emotions. While the opposition compares this bill to the registration of Jews in Nazi Germany during WWII, and has concerns about racial profiling… Many who support this bill have argued that more jobs will become vacant, more funds will be funneled back into social security, welfare and other social services provided by the USA government for US citizens.

Feeling The Affects At Home This is an election year for Senate and Congressional seats and Governors. The 1070 Bill causes neighboring states to split and argue. Example: Arizona and California (Los Angeles). Los Angeles police are forbidden from carrying out California’s illegal immigration directive under the department's own policy. Their policy states that since there are so many immigrants living in Los Angeles, when police are investigating a crime, they do not investigate the citizen’s immigrant status.
