PLTW Principles of Engineering – Major Projects during the year Career Description Project – Students will choose a branch of Engineering to explore, and present it to the class – This is an ongoing project during the 1st Semester Renewable Energy Project Bridge Structural Design Material Sorter Kinematics Design Problem

PLTW POE Course Proficiencies During the course of this year, students will continue to expand (with Teacher supervision): – Problem solving skills – Independent and Team collaboration skills – Project planning and management skills – Focus on innovative and creative thinking – Public speaking skills

Grading – Quizzes – 25% (Notebook Checks, Projects, Quizzes) – Tests – 25% (Tests, Reports and Presentations) – Participation – 15% (Team Participation, Shop Safety) – Homework – 10% (Activities) – Final – 25% (Cumulative Presentation, PLTW End of Year Final)

10th & 11th Grade Expectations Show respect for yourself and others. Be Prepared! – Bring writing utensils, paper, calculators. Participate in activities, be proactive in team projects. Clean shop areas at the end of the block.

Engineering Shop Policies Field Trip and Discovery Night Participation – Must have >85% average MP grade in class Keep phone in designated bin unless teacher asks student to use it, or there is an emergency Parents will be notified of recurring discipline issues, or if student MP grade is below 69% Extra credit is only given for effort above and beyond what is already being asked If you need help, please ask the teacher to arrange extra time
