Permaculture Definition
Permaculture is the conscious design and maintenance of agriculturally productive systems which have the diversity, stability, and resilience of natural ecosystems. It is the harmonious integration of the landscape with people providing their food, energy, shelter and other material and non-material needs in a sustainable way.

Observe & Interact Creatively Use & Repond To Change Ethics: Care of Earth, Care of People & Fair Share Use Edges & Value the Marginal Catch & Store Energy Time 10mins Total 180 mins Links between principles Ethics to 4,6, 8, 9, 10 expressions of restraint 1 to 7 Observe patterns 7 to 12 Patterns of change Coupling 2 & 3 Capital & Income 2 to12 Energy pulses systems Balance 2/3 & 10, Productivity & growth vs small, slow diverse & margins Balance 3 & 4 Positive vs Negative feedback 3 to 5 Yield from renewable 5 to 6 Renewable pests Balance 6 & 12 Stability maintenance vs change 8 to 11 Integrate at edges 10 to 11 Diversity to spatial diversity Flag evening review game Use & Value Diversity Obtain A Yield Use Small & Slow Solutions Apply Self Regulation & Accept Feedback Integrate Rather Than Segregate Use and Value Renewable Resources & Services Design from Patterns to Details Produce No Waste

Principles of Permaculture
Care of the Earth (Rebuild nature’s capital) Care of the People (Nurture the self, kin and community) Fair Share (Live simply so that others may simply live)
6
Permaculture Ideas Collect and save energy Close material loops
Layer functions Maintain diversity Mimic Ecosystems
7
Catch and Store Energy SIMPLE GARDEN IDEAS
Use black plastic containers for compost and rain barrels to trap heat. Compost waste faster at higher temps Keep water unfrozen in rain barrel
8
Close Materials Loops SIMPLE GARDEN IDEAS
Reuse fish waste to grow plants (aquaponics) Use compost to recycle nutrients into soil Upcycle pallets to use as planters
9
Layer Functions SIMPLE GARDEN IDEAS
Create greenhouses, which keep plants warm, out of recycled products Make beautiful planters out of recycled materials Use chickens tractors (weeding, fertilizing, aerating, pest control) while feeding your chickens
10
Maintain Diversity SIMPLE GARDEN IDEAS
Employ polyculture to prevent diseases and pests Encourage natural ecosystems (feed fungi, bacteria, and insects that helps keep the system in balance)
11
Mimic Ecosystems SIMPLE GARDEN IDEAS
Use legumes and bacteria to enhance nitrogen in soil Create environment to encourage organisms (grow mushrooms) Use mulch to prevent bare soils
