June 2009 PRESIDENCY EVENTS More than 3,000 events in the Czech Republic, in Brussels and elsewhere in the world: meetings of the European Council and EU Ministers, working meetings, representing the EU Council in international organisations, in the EP and at other meetings, cultural events, including: 550 meetings and conferences in the Czech Republic 500 cultural events in the world and in the Czech Republic Importance of events taking place in the regions of the Czech Republic: bringing the EU to the people drawing attention to the Czech Republic and promoting its products and services; making it more attractive for congress tourism and tourism in general

June 2009 OFFICIAL EVENTS IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC 101 official events attended by 30 – 450 delegates: 31 summit and ministerial meetings 7 top-level summits: EU27-USA, Employment, Eastern Partnership, Southern Corridor, EU-China, EU-Canada, EU- Japan 2 meetings of the Government of the Czech Republic: with the Conference of Presidents of the EP and with the European Commission 14 informal meetings of EU Ministers (Prague + regions) 8 ministerial conferences 70 working group meetings, conferences and workshops in the Prague Congress Centre

June 2009 PRESIDENCY IN NUMBERS I From January to June 2009: 30,000 delegates, mostly from abroad visited the Czech Republic 3,730 journalists, including 2,049 from abroad at events in the Czech Republic www.eu2009.cz – more than 2 million visitors – the largest audience in recent years! www.eu2009.cz Over 4,000 standard pages of texts translated 80,000 copies of brochures and 30,000 accreditation badges distributed

June 2009 PRESIDENCY IN NUMBERS II Interpreting provided for some 65 events (80 interpreters and 28 booths at the largest event) 30,000 participants accommodated in the Czech Republic 69 “liaison officers” for foreign delegations Transport of delegations – 70 cars, 70 minivans, 20 buses 14,000 ties, 7,000 scarves, 36,000 pens distributed in the Czech Republic
