7 A warm up for Batik 1) Using white crayon, create a drawing with pattern. Press hard. 2) Go over it with a light wash of watercolor (wax resist) 3) Draw over your light wash with crayon. Apply a new layer of watercolor over it.

8 Assignment 2) At least 2 sketches for batik project. You can bring in an item to dye, or use our square fabric. - Include a motif from nature - Consider balance - symmetrical, asymmetrical, radial? - Include elements and principles of design - Highly recommend: specific color group. May have “main” color group with accents - Can design a pillow, wall-hanging or scarf
