A line of symmetry for a two- dimensional figure is a line across the figure such that the figure can be folded along the line into matching parts.

What other objects do you know of that have lines of symmetry? Here are a few I thought of 

5. Let’s Get Moving!
As a class let’s see how many lines of symmetry we can find on our bodies.

6. Can I have a few volunteers to come and draw the line(s) of symmetry on each picture?

7. Now I will have one student pass out a “lines of symmetry” handout, taking our lesson a little further to check for understanding. You may talk with one another and/or me to complete the handout. Raise your hand if you need help. You will have about 5 minutes.

8. SYMMETRY IS SWEET!
Let’s go over the handout together now. Did you find it to be easy/difficult? Was it fun? What did you learn? Did you make any connections?

9. Let’s see how much you know!
I will pass out a handout, each of you will have a different picture to complete.
Instructions:
1. Complete the picture by drawing/sketching out the matching half to your image.
2. Draw the line or lines of symmetry.
3. If you finish earlier than the permitted time, color your picture.
