4 Unit 4a – Westward Migration & Native American Resistance (1790-1850) Tecumseh – Shawnee – Take military action - Unite & oppose expansion  Opposed Treaty of Fort Wayne – William Henry Harrison  Harrison took military action – Battle of Tippecanoe shattered Native American confidence.  Tecumseh dies at the Battle of Thames (War of 1812) – left a legacy of defiance and respect for Indian culture.
