1.Most school fundraising relies on asking parents for money (one way or another). 2.In economically difficult times traditional fundraising is likely to become MUCH more difficult! 3.Schools need to consider what the effect of reduced fundraising (& even school budgets) might be & what alternative action can be taken. A Revolution in School Fundraising

1.Buy4schools rewards parents as well as schools. 2.At a time when parents can least afford to donate, buy4schools gives them cashback on things they already buy! 3.Parents actually ‘gain’ from buy4schools. 4.Very quickly... parents WANT to participate. Why Buy4schools is totally different.

1.Each school gets its own Buy4schools web page (see example  http://www.buy4schools.co.uk http://www.buy4schools.co.uk 2.Parents register their name & email on buy4schools (they get no unsolicited communication!) 3.Parents login to buy4schools and use the links on the site to visit retailers sites directly. 4.All transactions are conducted directly on the retailers site i.e. PCWorld and payment is made to the retailer directly (as normal). 5.Buy4schools tracks the purchase and the retailer pays a commission back to buy4schools for sending the parent to them. 6.The cashback is automatically split 50/50 between each parent and the school. (Parents can donate their 50% to the school if they wish). 7.Cashback is paid straight into parents and school accounts (or to PayPal if preferred). How does it work?

How does it compare with other fundraising schemes? Buy.at / OthersBuy4schools Approx 200 - 500 retailers availableApprox 2000 retailers available! Rewards the school only (poor incentive for repeat involvement from parents). Rewards Parents & the School – 50/50 No easy means of reminding parentsDesigned to work with ParentMail. Effortless ability to remind parents with regular school emails. (Can use with other email systems)ParentMail Heavy promotion required to get decent result Minimal effort for the school Buy.at is the scheme that many schools will be familiar with & there are one or two others similar that operate in the same way. The table below illustrates the major differences.

Integration with Email systems Using school email systems to gently but regularly remind parents about raising funds for school & rewarding themselves too is extremely effective. It saves having to remind parents continually using other means! The image to the left shows a ParentMail email message complete with buy4schools banner which transfers parents directly to the school’s own page. Buy4schools can provide banners in various shapes and sizes that schools are free to use with whatever email systems they might be using to communicate with parents.

1.Home/Car Insurance – most parents renew their home insurance every year. Buy4schools can generally attract £20 in cashback for each policy. If 100 parents/families renew their home or car insurance through buy4schools  100 x £20 = £2000 (£1000 goes to the school). 2.Holidays – Several major holiday companies are with Buy4schools. On average they give 2% cashback. Given the average cost of a family holiday (£1000 - £3000 a year) this can generate £20 to £60 in cashback! If 50 families can be persuaded to buy their holidays through buy4schools  50 x £40 (average) = £2000 (£1000 goes to the school). 3.Mobile Phones – most parents renew their mobile contracts each year. Mobile phone companies will often provide £10 or more in cashback. 100 families renewing their mobile phones through buy4schools generates  100 x £10 = £1000 (£500 going to the school). 4.Groceries/Electrical Goods/Computers/Books/Hotels/Jewellery/Home & Garden equipment... the list of things parents can buy through buy4schools is almost endless! EVERYTHING attracts cashback of between 1% & 15% depending on the item and the deal being offered by the retailer. 5.SUMMARY – Primary schools can see funds raised in the region of £3000 - £5000 every year, while the average secondary school can double these figures. Examples of how much can be raised.
