“Seed” Old-time farmers spoke of “going to seed” to refer to a plant that was not harvested when its fruit was ripe, but instead allowed to fully mature to produce “seed” for the next crop. This got me to thinking. Consider some Bible “seed” passages with me….

“Seed and Seeds” Principles, Gen.1:11-13 “plants yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit, with seed in them, after their kind…” Preview, Gen.3:15 “enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed…” Promise, Gen.12:3 “And in your seed all families of the earth shall be blessed.”

“Seed and Seeds” Propagation, Luke 8:4-15 “… the seed is the word of God.” Propitiation, Gal.3:11-16 “He does not say, ‘And to seeds’… but rather to one, ‘And to your seed,’ that is Christ.” Product, Gal.3:23-29 “And if you are Christ’s, then are you Abraham’s seed, heirs according to the promise.”

“Seed and Seeds” The Point? One of the illustrations the Bible uses to show the way to heaven for us and others, is the “Seed.” It produces after its kind. This is true of both Satan, and the Savior. We are the products of “seed of the Savior” or the “seed of Satan,” 1John 3:4-10. We likewise sow seeds of Satan or the Savior, which will reproduce “after their kind.” Which are you? Which are you sowing?
