Paramedic Practitioner Placements Hannah Walker Park Surgery Herne Bay

What do you get? Experienced paramedic for full time 8 week placement Mid way or more through modular course covering Critical Reasoning, Nature of Assessment, Minor Injuries, Minor Health, Pharmacology, Paediatrics, Mental Health, the Older Person.

What is required from practice? Induction week sitting in on GP and nurse clinics Weekly tutorial GP available to discuss patients

Average day for paramedic at Park Surgery Morning – assess visits as they come in. Speak to / visit patient and liaise with GP. Afternoon – work with on call doctor seeing urgent patients either in the surgery or at home.

What does a qualified PP do? Trained to examine and create care pathway Differentiates between acute and chronic Carries more drugs than regular paramedic, can give a/b, pain relief etc under PGD Treats soft tissue injury, assess falls Suture/glue Can follow up the patient

Summary We have found it a positive experience – just completed fifth PP placement Short term benefit – help with urgent patients Long term benefit – reduction in admissions Would we recommend having a PP in the practice – Absolutely!
