Annie Leibovitz
2
Biography Annie Leibovitz was born October second 1949 in Waterbury Connecticut. She studied painting at the San Francisco Art Institute and worked for Rolling Stones Magazine. She has also done photos for Vanity Fair, Newsweek, and Vogue
3
Biography The style she uses in her photography is more focused on lighting and bold colors, which means she goes for colors and shades that make her pictures more interesting and kind of pop out at you.
4
Biography Her personal influences in her photography are visual and artistic. She’s very creative and has always loved taking pictures. She started photographing in the 1990’s and continues to today.
6
Protective Mother 1 This photo displays artificial lighting. The light is shining down upon from above just barely. The main subject of this photo is a woman protecting her children. You can tell because she has the intense look that just attracts your eye.
7
Protective Mother 2 She used the rule of thirds when placing the head in the picture, used different lightings around her that point your eye to her and another interesting thing that has been done was the use of texture.
8
Protective Mother 3 The fur she is wearing has texture that just adds intensity to the picture. The message that Annie is trying to communicate is that mothers have a strong animal instinct to protect their young.
10
Genie 1 This photo uses artificial lighting. The lighting is coming from the bottom to light up her face and draw attention to it.
11
Genie 2 The main subject of the picture is the genie. Its easy to tell in this picture because nothing else but clouds are in it and the lighting kind of circles her.
12
Genie 3 This photo uses texture in the clouds in her background. It uses lighting to circle the main point and the rule of thirds in the head placement. I think Annie is trying to say that this or all Genies were or are mischievous or silly.
14
Vanity Fair’s Miley Cyrus 1
This photo uses natural lighting. It is coming from her left side in order to light up her face.
15
Vanity Fair’s Miley Cyrus 2
The main or only subject in this picture is the girl. The lighting in this picture is trying to make you notice her face the most though.
16
Vanity Fair’s Miley Cyrus 3
There’s use of texture in the background as to not distract from the main image and lighting to point to different sides of her. Honestly the only message I could think of for this picture s that women are seductive.
18
Clothed Man 1 This photo uses natural lighting from the room and a bit of artificial I’m sure when it was photo shopped or set up. The light is coming from every where around this mans head to point at it.
19
Clothed Man 2 The main subject in this picture is this man’s face. Light is used from every direction to point at his face.
20
Clothed Man 3 This picture uses texture in the background, lighting and leading lines. All the lines point inward to this man and the colors point towards the darkest point which is his face. The message here is oblivious to me but I love how the picture looks.
22
Playful Child 1 This photo uses natural lighting. The light is coming from the from of the child pointing back at the woman playing with him.
23
Playful Child 2 The subject in this picture could either be the child running, the woman chasing him or both as a whole. The clues are the expressions on their faces and the lighting pointing towards them.
24
Playful Child 3 Texture and pattern are used all around the room. The lighting also played a part by showing more of their faces. This picture is just trying to communicate the innocence of children and the fun and not a worry in the world at play.
25
The End I chose this photographer because I just loved the way her photos looked and the imagination in a lot of them. All of her photos have some interest and fun likingness to them.
