3 There are 2 main forms of Nucleic Acids * DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) * RNA (Ribonucleic Acid)

5 DNA – Deoxyribonucleic Acid The Blueprint of Life – Controls everything that makes you, you – Transmits genetic information When the cell is not dividing the DNA is found in the form of Chromatin ( a grainy appearing combination of DNA and histones) During cell division the DNA wraps tightly around the histones and forms Chromosomes DNA can be found in the Nucleus and the Mitochondria DNA has the 5 Carbon sugar Deoxyribose Your DNA is approximately 99.9% the same as any other human, and research shows Chimp DNA to be 98.8 % the same as yours.

6 The differences in DNA from one person to the next can be used to identify suspects. For DNA testing 13 markers are used, the FBI estimates the odds of some one sharing those genetic markers to be 1 in 113 billion. The fact that only 13 markers are used out of the entire DNA strain should bring into question the validity of DNA evidence.
