To decode DNA it needs to be changed into RNA The purpose of DNA is to instruct the cell to make amino acids which connect to make proteins RNA- ribonucleic acid

3 differences: The sugar is ribose (not deoxyribose) Normally single stranded (not double) Contains Uracil (not Thymine)

3 types of RNA Messenger RNA- carry copies of instructions from DNA to the rest of the cell Ribosomal RNA- at the ribosome (where proteins are formed) Transfer RNA- transfers amino acids to ribosome as it is coded by the mRNA

Transcription- copying DNA into RNA Genetic Code- each 3 letters of RNA is a codon which can be translated into a specific amino acid
