Steamboats Steamboats were a major form of transportation in the United States in the early 1800’s. They transported goods up and down rivers

The Erie Canal Factory owners wanted to get from the Atlantic to Great Lakes They dug a man-made river called a canal to transport goods.

The Erie Canal The Erie Canal is a 363 mile canal started in 1817 and finished in 1825. It Stretches from Hudson River in NY to Lake Erie. It was the largest canal in the world at that time

Railroads Railroads were developed to improve transportation across the expanding United States.

Railroads The “ Pacific Railway Acts” gave money to two railroad companies to build a railroad across the United States, called the “Transcontinental Railroad”
