2. What is Digital Storytelling?  Everyone has a story to tell. With today’s technology students have more options to have their voices heard  Digital Storytelling is using computer-based multimedia tools to tell a story. It’s old fashioned storytelling + technology  Multimedia components of digital stories include:  Still images  Video  Narration (recorded audio)- Consider Audacity  Text  Sound (usually in the form of music, sometimes sound effects)  Most digital stories are short; between 2-5 minutes in length

Digital Story Topics  Virtually anything can be turned into a digital story!  Possible topics for students include:  Personal narrative (relationships, memorials, adventures, accomplishments, special places, hobbies, profession, recovery, love stories, discovery)  P.S.A.s (Public Service Announcements)  Point of View of an object  Recall of historical events  Book Trailers  Digital Storytelling tools can be web based, downloadable applications, or software with a cost

14. Assignment  Create a digital story. It should include a minimum of 3 of the 5 elements of a digital story (images, text, music, narrative, and video) and be between 2-4 minutes. Be creative! Take pride in your work!  Embed your digital story on your wiki page. You may need to upload it to YouTube (open a free account if you need to)  Blog about the experience. What did you think of the digital storytelling process? Was it easy to do? Is it something students can easily do? Will your share your example with your students? What level of Bloom’s Taxonomy (or which NET standard) does this fall under?
