Location- where a place is found Two meanings Absolute and Relative location Absolute Location The exact spot on earth. Deals with longitude and latitude. Elmwood Park, New Jersey- 40deg-54’16” N 74deg07’10W Relative Location- location of one place compared to another. EX. I live two blocks down, the house on the left with purple shutters LOCATION

What it is like there? Place describes characteristics of a location that makes it unique or different Defined by physical features (landforms, plants, animals, and weather patterns) Describe citizens and language they speak Ex-Is it cold? Are there mountains there? Jungle or desert? City or Country? Place

A group of places that have human and/or physical characteristics in common. Example- Southwestern United States (deserts, mountains) Jersey Shore (beaches, coastline) Northeast United States. Region

Movement of people, goods, and ideas moving from one place to another Example- Early humans chasing animal herds from one place to another. The internet Transportation systems Movement

HEI- humans depend, adapt and modify the world around them How people affect their environment or natural surroundings or how they affect them. Use environment to change or meet their needs Tempperature & natural disaster effect/ influence how people live also Human Environment Interaction
