5. Basketball We have a girls team and a boys team in the middle school. Basketball is played on a court that measures 74 by 42 feet. To score the ball must go through the net. 6. Track Track Our middle school has both winter and spring track for the boys and the girls. There are many events for the kids to compete in. These events include the high jump, running jump, shot put, sprints, long distance races and relay races. Our track team is usually successful due to their long hours of practice. 7. Flag Football Flag football is not a contact sport. It is played on a football field but the players do not tackle each other. Instead of tackling the player with the ball, the other team has to grab a flag that is worn around the players waist. All of the other rules are the same as tackle football. 11. Bowling The Middle School does not have a bowling team but we do go bowling several times each year. Each team has between 3-5 players. The goal is to knock as many pins down as you can. If you knock all the pins down it is called a strike. A perfect score is 300 but this is almost impossible to get. At the Middle School the teams are called Junior pee Wee ( ages 8-11 ), and midgets ( ages 9-16. The Asbury Park teams have gone to the state championships year after year!
