Al Tamman Indsil Ferrochrome LLC (FZC), is a 50:50 JV between Muscat Overseas Group, Oman and Indsil Group of India.
Has setup Oman’s first Ferro Chrome smelter in 2013, at Sohar Free zone (SFZ) with a rated capacity of 75,000 ton per annum.
Oman is a major exporter of Chromite Ore, accounting for 10% of the total world production of this mineral. Abundant mid-grade Chromite Ore deposits, coupled with availability of cheap energy and proximity to Sohar port makes this venture ideally positioned to showcase the capability of Oman as a leading supplier of Ferrochrome.

The captive power generation facilities at Kerala and Chattisgarh make the respective smelters in these Locations, internationally, one of the most cost competitive units. BRIEF HISTORY:
Project launch 2011.
Preliminary Environment permit issued on
First Furnace trial runs commenced June 2012.
Full commercial production commenced out of one furnace by July Second furnace by October 2013.

5. LOCATION
The operational facilities are located at Free Zone Sohar which is at a distance of around 250 km from capital city Muscat, Sultanate of Oman.
The nearest port is ,Sohar Port which is 5 kms away from the facility
The nearest airport is located 10km from Free Zone Sohar
The Site is well connected by Expressways and roads

6. MAJOR PRODUCTION FACILITIES
The production facilities are spread over an area of 150,000 square meters consisting of :
Submerged arc furnaces, with latest technology for electrode columns. - 2 no's, each of 24 MVA rating
Gas cleaning plant each of 2,40,000 m3 capacity to handle the flue gases. The gases are filtered through polyester filter bags to achieve a Suspended particulate matter(SPM) of less than 10 mg/Nm3 – 2Nos.

7. MAJOR PRODUCTION FACILITIES -2
Product handling system which can handle around 200tpd of crushing, screening and packing of the finished products
Crushing and Jigging facilities for separation of metal from the slag – 30 tph
Single phase transformers – 3 no's of 8 MVA each ,for each furnace
Dedicated cranes (35/10 t capacity) and crane bays for each furnace- 2nos
Raw material handling facilities- one for each furnace of 50tph capacity. – 2Nos.
A complete set of auxiliary power supply system for operation of the furnaces and other equipment.
Around 10,000 square meter of covered area for storage of raw material
and finished products

9. QUALITY CONTROL
Professional team of personnel , responsible for assuring quality of the incoming ,in process and finished products to and from the furnaces on 24*7 basis. The laboratory is equipped with necessary equipment for carrying out analysis on chemical as well as instrumental
Responsible for the handling of finished goods after tapping , sizing ,packing & before dispatch to customer
Monitor the air ,water quality on a day to day to basis to achieve the desired standards set by the Ministry of Environment and Climatic affairs, Sultanate of Oman
Co-ordinate with third party assayers for final sampling, analysis and dispatch based on customer requirement
